The Readiness Assessment evaluates whether your business is prepared to start outsourcing. The Maturity Assessment evaluates how well you're doing with outsourcing you've already started. Readiness is 'should I start?' — Maturity is 'how do I improve?'
Level 3 (Defined) is where most successful outsourcing organizations operate. Level 4 (Managed) is excellent and indicates mature operations. Level 5 (Strategic) is rare and represents organizations where outsourcing is a competitive differentiator. The goal isn't always Level 5 — it's reaching the level that matches your business needs.
Typically 6–12 months per level, depending on organizational commitment. The biggest jump is from Level 1 to Level 2 (starting) and from Level 3 to Level 4 (measuring). Key accelerators: documented processes, dedicated management, and consistent measurement.
